Cíle předmětu
This course focuses on one or more central topics in the field of contemporary Chinese society. Targeted training of reading comprehension skills: This encompasses the enlargement of vocabulary and the receptive knowledge of Chinese characters, since this is the basis for understanding texts in the target language. Another goal is to achieve the ability to analyze and hence understand more complex sentences and paragraphs in order to quickly grasp the gist of texts.
Výstupy z učení
Students will gain reading skills in Chinese, dealing with various text genres. Students learn to read extensively and to analyze sources in Chinese. Specifically, students will, as a result of this course: Become aware of the skills and strategies available for improving reading ability in Chinese. Be able to understand main ideas, analyse and evaluate facts, ideas and opinions demonstrate understanding of how writers use language and structure to achieve effects and influence readers as well as students will acquire and apply a wide vocabulary.

Výukové metody
The course is based on the reading, analysis and discussion of sources in Chinese and English. Reading and analysis of the texts in classroom and/or group work). Exercises for various reading strategies (esp. dealing with new authentic texts; intelligent guessing).
Metody hodnocení
Course completion is conditioned with regular attendance (max. 1 skipped classes), active participation, and home preparation.
