Course objectives
The aim of the course is to give students a detailed insight into chosen piece of Ancient literature through its adaptation for public reading in frame of the international festival Latin Grec organized by the University of Lyon (http://festival-latingrec.eu/) and to let them maintain personal experience with such a performance and popularization.
Learning outcomes
The student having passed the course will be able:
- to talk eruditely about the author and plot of the chosen piece,
- to explain importance of the piece in the context of Ancient literature,
- to characterize the specificity of adapting a literary work for public reading,
- to evaluate public readings' contribution to popularization of classical studies.
Syllabus
  • In 2023, the public reading will take place on Friday, 24th March, 11:00-12:00 AM. Virgil's Aeneid has been chosen for this year. In Brno, we are going to participate by reading its second book.
