Course objectives
The aim of the course is to offer the students an overview of the research methods applicable in the field of medieval language and literature. Students will gain a better knowledge about research carried out at the cooperating departments and the basics of textual criticism.
Learning outcomes
Students will acquire a comprehensive overview of the methods applicable in the field of medieval Latin language and literature and vernacular (Czech, German) literature.
Syllabus
  • Bloc teaching – tutors from all three historic languages of the Czech lands are present (Latin, Czech, German):
  • methods of medieval linguistic and literary research (in general);
  • study of literary and diplomatic sources (part I.);
  • ways of making the sources accessible.
Literature
  • Literature is assigned based on the topics of the dissertations.
  • Literatura: dle zvolených témat doktorských disertací.
Teaching methods
Lectures and seminars; seminar discussion.
Assessment methods
Regular and active class participation.
