Course objectives
Main objectives of the course can be summarized as follows: to elaborate the knowledge of the French grammar with the emphasis on the syntax; to be able to write a short paper or speak about a topic from the French history, geography and culture.
Syllabus
  • The course has not been yet realized. This is just the preliminary concept of the syllabus.
  • 1.Characteristics of basic syntactic terms: "phrase", "énoncé", "énonciation".
  • 2. Processes used in syntactic analysis – substitution, commutation.
  • 3. Independent clause: types and modality.
  • 4. Compound sentences – according to clause position - juxtaposition, coordinating, subordinate, correlative.
  • 5. Clause structure - "groupe nominal", "groupe verbal".
  • 6. The issue of French word order - inversion, dislocation, "détachement", "mise en relief".
  • 7. Direct, indirect and semi-direct speech.

Teaching methods
All the basic methods of CLT programme (Communicative Language Teaching)are used: individual, pair, group activities (conversation, practice, drill). Audition. Homework extended to e-learning self-study. 99% of teaching is in French. The main focus is on audition.
Assessment methods
Written test and oral discussion to prove the ability of speaking.
