Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to obtain the basic knowledge and practical skills in the Italian normative grammar, vocabulary, phraseology and idioms. The course is aimed at the training of the use of basic grammatical issues, the development of the vocabulary and speaking skills in everyday situations. At the end of the course, students should reach the following level of European reference frame: B1 (the entering level should be A2).
Syllabus
  • Practice and deepening of the grammatical knowledge.
  • Vocabulary.
  • Analysis of the system of tenses and their use, the types of senteces, indicative and subjunctive consecution of tenses, construstions of verb forms with infinitives etc.
  • Italian syntax which is different from the Czech one.
  • Regular grammatical, lexical and phraseological excercises.
  • Listening and speaking excercises.
  • Historical, cultural and social background.

Teaching methods
The course involves regular grammatical, lexical and phraseological excercises, controll tests, listening and speaking excercises. Historical, cultural and social background as well as the work with original texts is also part of the classes.
Assessment methods
The student has to deliver 4 essays in Italian and one translation during the semester. Attendance and active participation in the course (75% min.). Written and oral examination.
