Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of Modern Greek (A1-A2 CEFR).
Learning outcomes
Students must be able to:
- understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type;
- communicate in the most common situations of everyday life (family, shopping etc.);
- understand simple texts focused on given topics;
- wright simple short texts;
- translate simple short texts from Modern Greek into Czech and vice versa;
- explain and apply grammatical phenomena they were taught.

Teaching methods
The course is in the form of a seminar and lectures. Homework is required during semester – students prepare assigned grammatical exercises and translations from Modern Greek into Czech and vice versa, short essays on given topics.
Assessment methods
Requirements for obtaining the credit: preparation of assignments within the deadline, passing two mid-term tests (min. 60%) and a credit written test (min. 75%), oral examination and at least 70% participation in lessons.
