Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge of Modern Greek and to develop the vocabulary and communicative competence (level A2 CEFR).
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. employment);
- communicate in the common situations of everyday life;
- understand simple texts focused on given topics and translate them into czech and vice versa;
- explain and apply grammar discussed in seminars.
Syllabus
  • Grammar: Ellinika Tora 1+1, lessons 14-16, Ellinika 2+2 lessons 1,2: irregular nouns, adjectives, pronouns, verbs passive, aorist of irregular verbs, future tense of irregular verbs.
  • Topics: social intercourse, employment, food, weather.
  • Orthography practice.
  • Translation into Czech and Modern Greek.
  • Reading of simple texts.
  • Listening.
  • Conversation.

Teaching methods
The course has a form of a seminar and lectures. Homework is required during semester – students prepare assigned grammatical exercises and short translations from Modern Greek into Czech and vice versa.

Homework is required during semester – students prepare assigned grammatical exercises and translations from Modern Greek into Czech and vice versa, essays on given topics. Requirements for obtaining the credit: passing a written test (min. 70 %).
