Course objectives
The course motivates to individual science work through the methodology of elaborating a group of related encyclopaedic entries. It helps to gain experience in working with sources and professional literature and to understand the interpretation context inside the created data files.
Learning outcomes
Student competences after completion of the course:
- ability to elaborate by oneself a related group of encyclopaedic entries
- ability to establish relevant links between encyclopaedic entries at a contentual, chronological and topographic level
- ability to lead a thematically specialised micro work team within the author collective of the encyclopaedia
Syllabus
  • 1. Selection of the topic for individual elaboration of a group of related entries
  • 2. Exploitation of source files – archival sources, professional literature, alternative sources
  • 3. Elaboration of a group of related entries in the application Internet Encyclopaedia of Brno History
  • 4. Elaboration of pictorial documentation to individual entries
  • 5. Topographic anchoring of entries in the application Internet Encyclopaedia of Brno History
  • 6. Contextual definition of the elaborated group of encyclopaedic entries within the content and chronological frame of the encyclopaedia
