Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to learn the principles of museum exhibition criticism as an effective and necessary, even though quite disregarded, tool for increasing the quality of presentation activity in contemporary museum institutions.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, the student will be able to: critically analyse the positives and shortcomings of contemporary museum displays and exhibitions with regard to their contentual, visual and installation characteristics; publish a review of a museum exhibition or display in museum or museology journal; apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in museum practice.

  • Princliples of museum's presentation in practice.
  • Sciences in museum and its specifics in museum presentation.
  • Types of museums and its problems in museum presentation.
  • Basic standards of criticism of exhibitions.
  • Principal lacks and mistakes in methodology and presentation of museum exhibitions.
  • Research of influence of museum exhibitions to museums visitors.
  • Museum exhibitions as a theme for review in journals and in mass media.
