Course objectives

In this course the German historiography texts of the Middle ages are thematised, with main focus on the Middle European and Bohemian region. The typical chronicles are discussed in connection with other text types from this sphere - annals, biographies etc.

Learning outcomes

Upon completition of the course, the students will be able to: distinguish different types of histography texts; outline the topical aspects of the chronicler work in the Middle Ages; work with selected text sources form the Middle ages; be aware of the specificities of chronicles as historical sources.
