Course objectives
In this practical seminar, students will practise translation of texts from various fields. No theoretical concepts and/or theories will be introduced. Each week, students will be given a piece of text which they translate independently and bring it prepared to the class. Various solutions and approaches will be then discussed.

  • Covered texts: popular informative - Stilrent (Innredningsideer for alle hjemmets rom), technical passage in a fiction text - Tegn til kjærlighet (Jan Kjærstad), social antropology - Storeulvssyndromet (Thomas Hylland Eriksen), special Norwegian topics – friluftsliv, EU-related texts (Rådgiverforum Norge), book review.
