Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the career guidance as a topic of andragogical research and, as a priority, as one of the areas of employment of andragogues in the labour market. The course presents the context of career guidance and counselling in the worldwide it maps the types of services that are offered as career guidance/counselling services for adults, including the specifics of the counseling process according to selected theories. Specific attention is paid to the career education for adults.
Learning outcomes
Studenti budou po absolvování kurzu schopni:
-identifikovat služby kariérového poradenství z nabídek služeb vzdělávacích institucí, zaměstnavatelů i neziskových organizací,
- znát priority rozvoje služeb kariérového poradenství v Evropě,
- charakterizovat teorie využitelné při vedení poradenského procesu s dospělými,
- navrhnout lekci pro vybranou skupinu dospělých zacílenou na rozvoj dovedností řízení kariéry,
- budou schopni relfektovat nároky na práci kariérového poradce.
Syllabus
  • Course outline: 1. Characteristics of and trends in career guidance services in EU.
  • 2. Diversity of the career guidance services in EU and in the Czech Republic, individual and societal benefits this services and role this services for policy areas (employment, education, social inclusion).
  • 3. Career counselling process and specific of this process for different target groups of the adults.
  • 4. Theories of career decision making and choice (např. Parsons, Holland, Schein).
  • 5.Theories of career careeer development(Ginsber, Super).
  • 6. Currently theories of career development (Savickas, Patton and McMahon).
  • 7. Career information and support people in obtaining and using the relevant information about themselves, the labour market and educational opportunities.
  • 8. Career education as parts of career guidance services (models of the career education during the formal education in the CZ, inspiration from the abroad).
  • 9. Career education for adults (career management skills, systems of mapping and bilanc of the competences adults, developing curriculum for training sessions, examples of lessons).
  • 10. Career guidance practitioners.
  • 11. To discuss the group project - the training lessons for different target groups of the adults.

Assessment methods
A combination of lectures, exercises, excursion and self-study. Course evaluation – exam: submission of a group project and successful mastery of the written test (60% right answers)
