Course objectives
The goal of this course is to provide students with an insight into the field of drama education, overlaps with other educational and artistic subjects and the inclusion of the subject in the current curriculum. Students will be acquainted with the main methods and forms of drama education and with the possibilities of its application to other areas of pedagogical work. In the course of the course, through their own experience, they will learn the basic prerequisites of drama, dramatisation and staging process and techniques of reception and reflection of dramatic arts.
Learning outcomes
Student is be able to:
- describe the pedagogical and social goals of drama education,
- use basic techniques of drama education in education/social prevention
- identification the common elements of drama education and other pedagogical concepts based on learning through experience
-reflecting the experience and finding its overlap into the contemporary world and life

  • 1. Definition basic principles of drama education
  • 2. Drama education between other education activities, reflective learning and experiential learning,
  • 3. Structured drama - exploration of the theme or story through drama
  • 4. Drama education in leisure time,
  • 5. Drama educationa in school and curriculum,
  • 6. Drama education in work with handicapped and illness clients and in the social services

Teaching methods
Interactive seminars (with methods: roll playing, improvisations, body and voice work methods, simulation, discusion) and workshop
Assessment methods
The final evaluation is a joint interview in which students reflect the possibility of using dramatic education in different areas of education. The condition is also a visit to a practical demonstration of dramatic education in a certain facility or type of school and a written reflection of this visit.
