Syllabus
  • The legitimacy of the postwar powers in the highly developed countries was based upon the concept of the human and civic rights that were added by the social dimension. The system of the authorization of the citizens was completed also with their security - the societies have not secured their citizens only before the violence, but also before the risks like the unemployment. Hobbes' legitimacy of the state power through the reservation of the security was modified a lot. But the ecological crisis brings out the risks that cannot be bridget over by the contemporary establishments: in 1998 the natural calamities caused by (e.g.) the global rising of the temperature killed more people than the wars. The lecture is interested in the effects of this situation for the philosophical explanation of the legitimacy of the state power.
