Course objectives
After the completion of the course the students will have become familiar with the basic philosophical concepts, most important thinker in history of philosophy and the elementary problems of systematic philosophy; they will be able to apply fundamental philosophical literature and interpret some texts of primary literature; they will be able to form an independent piece of reasoning on an assigned topic.
Syllabus
  • Subject of philosophy, elements of work with philosophical literature, basic philosophical notions, subject of main philosophical disciplines, philosophy and myth, philosophy and science, philosophy and religion, main types of European rationality.

Assessment methods
In order to pass the written exam, it is necessary to send an essay on selected theme (1800 characters) before the deadline and to get acquainted with literature.
Written examination consisting of 8 questions focusing on the basic notions of the discipline. Written examination aimed at testing the student’s insight into the main theories, concepts and methodologies of the discipline, or in the work of the main representatives of the scholarly discourse, and at checking the student’s ability to connect relevant facts into logical relations. Topics of exam:
Ontology - basic problems
Gnoseology - basic problems
Overview of European philosophy - thinkers and streams
