Course objectives

In this e-learning course the students will familiarize themselves with the basic Greek (and Latin) philosophical terms that are important not only for further study of (especially) Ancient and Medieval philosophy, but as well for the systematic philosophy.
The aim of the course is to give needed preparation for the students which would like to write bachelor/diploma thesis on a topic from the history of Ancient (Medieval) philosophy.

Learning outcomes

After the completion of the course, students should be able to:
- read Greek philosophical terms written in the Greek alphabet;
- translate the basic Greek philosophical terms;
- explain their meaning.

Assessment methods

Credit is given for passing a written test (min. 21 out of 30 pts in four tasks).
The prerequisite for writing of the test is to pass every week electronic tests in ELF (https://elf.phil.muni.cz/22-23/) - a detailed description can be found in ELF course titled "Úvod do řecké filozofické terminologie (PS 2022)", password terminologie22 (the course will be available before the beginning of the semestr). You have to sign in the course at the beginning of the semester.
