Course objectives
Students are during this course acquainted with basic notions from the branch of interpreting and translating, methods of interpreting and translating and specifics of this branch. Theoretical explanation is completed with practical translating and interpreting in which students work with various types of texts. Objective is to get students ready for less typical communication situations which require individual approach of interpreter and translator. One of themes is also problematics of interpreting activity from/to Czech and Polish languages. At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain basic theories of interpreting and translating, and translate any oral or written text (belle lettres, scientific, technical)from/to Czech and Polish languages.

Teaching methods
Lectures (practically exemplified theoretical information), class discussion, intensive exercises in the translation from/to Polish, homeworks.
