The prerequisite for admission to the seminar is completion of the CJBB75 course. This requirement does not apply to the Digital Linguistics program, where the CJBB75 course is not offered until the following semester.

Course objectives
The goal is to practise the usage of linguistic software tools (Deriv and Morfio). The computer software allows systematic analysis of word formation.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- formulate word derivation rules for Czech;
- test accuracy of the rules using Morfio and Deriv tools;
- optimize the rules.

  • 1. Deriv – tool for testing automatic derivation for Czech.
  • 2. Morfio – tool for testing derivation relations in Corpora.
  • 3. Over and Under Generation - two problems of NLP.
  • 4. Algorithmic description of Verbal Nouns.
  • 5. Algorithmic description of Deverbative Nouns derived from the Verb Form.
  • 6. Algorithmic description of Deverbative Nouns (Stem Derivation).
  • 7. Algorithmic description of Deverbative Nouns (Root Derivation).
  • 8. Algorithmic description of Deverbative Adjectives derived from the Verb Form.
  • 9. Algorithmic description of Deverbative Adjectives (Stem Derivation).
