The prerequisite is a successful conclusion of all the linguistic disciplines and the capacity of the specialized linguistic and cientific communication in the Portuguese language.

Course objectives
The main objective of Stylistic of the Portuguese Language I is the analysis of the stylistic values of the grammar categories of the lexical types of words. One of the parts of the seminar is formed by definitions of the basic phenomena and terms that belong to this area. The attention is paid to the interdisciplinary character of this discipline
Syllabus
  • 1. nouns (stylistic value of diminutives and augmentatives, neologism, borrowed words, etc. 2. adjectives (absolute superlative archaic and vulgar types, position, substantivization of the adjectives and adjectivization of the nouns 3. article with proper names 4. pronouns - (tu, voce, voces, vós, vosso, seu, .. demonstrative a possessive pronouns in idioms and phrases) 5. verbs (time and mode according to thy textual typology 6. preposition and conjunctions. - queísmo, dequeísmo, redukplication, frequence 7. pragmatic marcators

Teaching methods
Lecture: exposition and definitions of basic terms and their exemplification on different types of specific text (recordings), proceeding from diverse registers. During the seminar a regular preparation is mandatory. One of the parts of the seminar is formed also by a work with dictionaries, with authentic materials of spoken and written European Portuguese language, elaboration of grammar exercises.
Assessment methods
The course is taught as both lectures and seminars. Attendance and participation in the course (min 80%).The exam is written and it is necessary receive 75% of the maximum of the points. The exam includes a composition where one of the presented themes has to be described. The exam includes definition and analyses of selected semantic phenomena.
