Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to expand the view of Brazilian realities and literature focusing on literary texts written in the context of the Brazilian Amazon. To offer insight into the folk literature as well as into current issues seen through the eyes of Amazonian authors and the problem of postcolonial thinking. Seminars are oriented to comment and to analyses of selected texts and to argue about it. Individual reading and thinking of participants are fundamental.
Learning outcomes
After the completion of the course students should be able: 1. to interpret a literary text as a semantic structure, to apply various methods of literary analysis to specific texts and to conduct an informed literary debate; 2. to comment and interpret literary, cultural and historical aspects and current tendencies related to the Brazilian Amazon region; 3. produce written and spoken texts at a level appropriate to the competences of B2-C2 CEFR;
