Course objectives
The course will focus on a deep analysis and interpretation of contemporary French texts (administration, journalism, advertisment etc.)from the point of view of both form and content. Along with the application of theoretical knowledge of basic translation procedure it will enable the student to translate a particular text into Czech while conserving all his original qualities. The knowledge and skills acquired will be further applicable in autonomous translator´s activity.

The student will be able to understand thoroughly a foreign language text of a given type;
to identify its key expressions;
to create a correct translation;

Course: texts analysis; selection of equivalents; translation; homeworks.
Assessment methods
Written examination is practical - translation of a text, using acquired theoterical knowledge and practical skills. The evaluation is based on conserving the qualities of the original text; the majority of them is required to pass the examination.
