Course objectives
The lectures should deal with topics as: General meaning and terminology, language for specific purposes, classification of LSP, text classes, grammar and lexicon of LSP, language varieties and LSP, lexicography, historical point of view. The seminar concentrates on practical issues of LSP translation. Students should create a portfolio of terminology and samples of official documents
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will theoretically be able to identify and classify the text in the system of the specialized language and to analyze it. They will be familiarized with strategies for translating professional language and will gain further practical competencies necessary to master a professional translation.
