The prerequisite for attending the course is both advanced knowledge of Modern Greek and excellent knowledge of Czech.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge about consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. Students will acquaint themselves with the specifics of both types of interpreting, the form of interpreting notation and the ways of preparing for interpreting practice. As part of the development of interpreting competences, the seminar will focus, for example, on presentation skills or memory techniques. The aim is also to introduce students to the possibilities of self-education in interpreting.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
- prepare reference materials on a given topic;
- use interpreting notation;
- master interpreting techniques;
- translate consecutively and simultaneously simple speech from Greek into Czech;

  • 2.-3. Processing terminology glossaries;
  • 4. Memory exercises;
  • 5. Consecutive interpreting and its specifics;
  • 6. Consecutive interpreting and communication with the client;
  • 7. Interpreting notation;
  • 8. Simultaneous interpreting and its specifics - shushotage, booth interpreting;
  • 9.-13. Practical training in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting;
  • 14. Self-learning opportunities in interpreting;
