Course objectives
The course aims to offer students a comprehensive view of the current social and cultural situation in Spain. Emphasis will be placed on the most significant historical milestones in relation to the current social situation, problems of nationalism, migration, unemployment, the status of women. The course is taught in Spanish.
Learning outcomes
The student will get an overview of the current situation in Spain. The student is able to place current events in the basic historical and social context.
Syllabus
  • Throughout the semester the following topics will be studied: 1 Introduction. The Franco dictatorship 2 The Transition to democracy. The 80-90s. 3 Entry into the EU. The 90s and today. 4 Nationalisms in Spain 5 Unemployment 6 Emigration and immigration 7 The family and demographic problems 8 Women in contemporary society
