II. Cycle programme assumes knowledge of topics and literature of subjects: PSA 019, PSA O36 - Psychology of Development I, II, PSA 052 Consulting Psychology, PSA O53 Psychological Diagnostics of Children and Adolescents. Attendance of semester obligatory briefing where student registers chosen subject is necessary. Date and place of meeting will be advised to students via email well in advance.

Course objectives
It is scheduled two weeks short-term attachment (10 working days altogether) in pedagogical-psychological consultancies and other state or private institutions working in field of care for children and adolescents inside the Czech Republic.
The aim of subject study is to acquire basic orientation and overview of work of psychologists in these organizations and understanding of practice within specialized framework of consulting psychology.
Learning outcomes
The student will gain:
- basic knowledge and orientation in special practical subjects comprising work of psychologists in these work places;
- practical experience in working with client (under supervision of psychologist);
- practical experience in using diagnostic method (under supervision of psychologist).
The student will be able to develop the required background from the practice at the appropriate level of processing.
Syllabus
  • Duration of short-term attachment practice is two weeks. It is recommended to split stay into one week attachment in some of pedagogical-psychological consultancies and one week attachment in other state institutions working inside framework of educational resort (for instance SPC, schools of special needs, homes for youths etc.) or alternatively one week in private establishments working with children and adolescents. During this short-term practice students (after agreement with psychologist who leads students’ practice) are to conduct one anamnesis under supervision of psychologist, to work using one diagnostic method (recommended is WISC III) under supervision of psychologist.

Teaching methods
Students are asked to reserve two weeks of short-term attachment practice in recommended work places by themselves. Tuitions are run in parts. Students are required to comply with working regulations of chosen working place and keep themselves with rules of professional etiquette.
Assessment methods
Requirement for obtaining term credit is submission of written paper comprising of confirmation of active work participation from individual work places recorded in "Protocol of passing practice in children’s consulting psychology", written compilation of one anamnesis conducted under supervision of psychologist, written elaboration of one diagnostic method used under supervision of psychologist. This elaboration must contain observation from working process with diagnostic method, overview of results and basic diagnostic conclusions and personal reflection on short-term work attachment.
