Course objectives
Aim of this course is to introduce students to basic themes from developmental psychology: influential developmental psychologists, history of developmental psychology, "traditional" themes and actual trends with focus on the first half of life (prenatal stadium to adolescence).
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to use the information from the developmental psychology(important representatives, history, basics of developmantal research and current trends)   in relation to other general and applied psychological areas (especially counseling psychology, methodology, psychopathology and social psychology) . At the end of this course the student will be able to orientate in   the psychology of human development, namely from the prenatal stage to adolescence. Syllabus
  • Students will get acquainted with basic terms and themes in developmental psychology. They will gain basic knowledge of the overall characteristics of each stage of human life from the prenatal stage to adolescence. Introduction to Developmental Psychology. Classical and modern theories of life-span human development. Developmental Science. Basic designs of developmental research. Current trends in developmental psychology. Developmental scales. Schools of developmental psychology. Prenatal period. Neonatal period. Infancy. Toddlerhood. Preschool period. School age. Adolescence.

Teaching methods
Lectures (weekly) and seminars (1x14 days).
Assessment methods
Written test. For admission to the written test, the student must meet the following requirements: 80% attendance at seminars, on time submission of homework given in seminars (e.g. presentations). If these requirements are not met, student will be evaluated by "X" grade and will be not admitted to final exam.
