Course objectives
Theoretical and practical workshop acquaints with human-centered approach. Founder of this humanistic approach in psychotherapy and consulting psychology (also in so-called encounter groups and supervision) is American psychologist C. R. Rogers. During the course students get to know this approach on the base of their own experience in a group, also at work with clients and in fields of family life, work, school and so on.
Syllabus
  • 1. unit: Acquaintance with human centered approach and its history of development. Basic concepts of therapeutic relationship and process (Rogers variables and dispositions): Acceptance (positive regard), emphatic understanding, authenticity. Problems of these variables. Conditions of the process. Procedure of consulting session, indications for psychotherapy. Specific work in group, group process, its beginning and development. 2.unit: Group process, Basic theoretical concepts of psychic processes according to C. R. Rogers: Self, incongruence, introjection, conditions of evaluation, organismic experience, foreign experience, actualization tendency, fully functioning person. Connection with theories of L. S. Vygotskij. Solution of group conflict. Demonstration of therapeutic interview. 3. unit: Group process. Application in education, management, family, nurture. Connection with emotional intelligence. Exhibition of Rogerss and Tauschs work is possible. Summary of the course.
