Prerequisites
The course is offered for master's degree students in the field of Psychology at the FF MU. Due to the fact that the course will work with recordings of real therapy sessions and students will participate in family therapy hearings incl. the possibility of active participation in the reflective team requires high motivation of students for active work (especially with children's clients) and the necessity to consistently observe the principles of information protection and respect for the rules of the medical facility.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen information, personal experience and skills with family therapy in the context of a healthcare facility. A key part of the course will be practice and detailed analysis of interventions in family therapy in the context of various clinical-psychological topics. After completing the course, the student should have a better understanding of the central concepts and effective factors of family therapy, the possibilities and problems of work in the conditions of clinical practice. The student should understand the principle and way of working in the family therapy model so that, as a graduate of the field, he is able to participate more quickly and more qualified in the practice of a clinical facility or further postgraduate education in psychotherapy.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: - to have a more realistic idea of ​​clinical psychotherapeutic work with the family - to better understand the creation of a therapeutic order in family therapy - to better understand the types and function of asking questions in psychotherapy

  • FT in the context of a healthcare facility (organization, financing, documentation management, legal consequences) - Specifics of working with child patients in RT (developmental characteristics and possibilities of cooperation and communication with children of different ages; dynamics of psychosomatic illness in children) - Ethical principles and obligations when working with children and adolescents (boundaries of therapeutic neutrality; ethical dilemmas in family therapy) - Technique of therapeutic conversation (types and effectiveness of interventions, questions, techniques in RT, the process of creating an order in family therapy) - FT with a reflective team - Education and supervision in FT

Teaching methods
Presentation of case studies with illustrative clinical problems (video recordings, listening to family therapy, active participation in a reflective team) and their analysis, practice and development of own skills in a practice therapeutic conversation using video recordings and their subsequent analysis, group discussion.
Assessment methods
Active involvement of students in the analysis of the family therapeutic process; engaging in their own model therapy sessions; supervision of acquired basic therapeutic skills. Active participation in joint seminars (85%) and full participation in the clinical (listening) part of the course (100%) are required. The subject ends with a colloquium. The basis for evaluation is the preparation, presentation and defense of a seminar paper (practice therapeutic recording of a model family therapy session with prepared documentation (5-10 pages) processed according to the teacher's instructions (e.g. Is there an indication for RT?, What was it really about? ( formulation of the problem), What was it from? (hypothesis about the emergence of problems), What caused the progress in therapy? (effective factors - intended or unintended), How satisfied are you with your work? (evaluation of success and failure rates ), What would I strive for differently next time? How will things continue? (prognosis), Do you have other suggestions? (proposed measures or recommendations) etc.) The ability to grasp the topic, express one's own opinion and supplement it with quotations from literature.
