- Course objectives
- The aim of the seminar is to introduce readings and philological translation of Greek texts of diferent funcional styles, to exercise translation to Czech with the monolingual and bilingual dictionaries. Reading and translating will be accompanied by practical exercises focused on short literary, scholarly and journalistic texts.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, students will be capable of:
- working with various types of dictionaries;
- understanding Modern Greek scholarly, journalistic and literary texts;
- characterising the specifics of the different functional styles. - Syllabus

- Texty a cvičení poskytuje vyučující, texty k vlastní četbě si vybírají studenti individuálně po případné konzultaci s vyučující.
- Texts and exercises are provided by the tutor, texts for reading are chosen by students individually after a consultation with the tutor.
- Teaching methods
- Seminar. Homework is required during semester – students prepare translations from Modern Greek into Czech.
- Assessment methods
- Students get their credit for active attendance (70%) at the classes, reading of chosen text from the curriculum for Bachelors´ study and its oral presentation at the seminar, handing in the paper on chosen text.
