Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to connect the theoretical knowledge of the language and methods of its teaching with practical experiences of the student. The practice lays in observation and performance in the course “Russian for Beginners” at Faculty of Arts of MU under the supervision of the tutor with following mutual reflection and reflection with the tutor.
Learning outcomes
After finishing the course, the student will be able:
- to define the aims of teaching the entrusted subject;
- to create a one-semester plan of teaching the course;
- to determine teaching methods adequate to the aims and the specific features of the group of learners;
- to determine an appropriate textbook and possible need of additional materials;
- to prepare additional material necessary for teaching;
- to stick to the plan and to evaluate the achievement of the goals;
- to collaborate with the partner in teaching the course, with the tutor and with the subject didact on possible changes of the teaching programme.
Syllabus
  • The basic scheme of the course:
  • 1. Preparation to the individual teaching and tasks: definition of the untrusted group and its specifics; determination of the aim of the course; determination of work methods; naming methods of controlling of teaching aims achievement; determination of the appropriate studying and additional material; determination of the teaching plan; consultation with the tutor/subject methodology specialist (60 hours).
  • 2. Personal teaching (24 hours).
  • 3. Teaching in pairs: collaboration with the partner in teaching the course (12 hours).
  • 4. Participation at school working (34 hours).
  • 5. Sharing and reflection of the experience under the guarantee of the professional didact (30 hours).
  • 6. Working on the coursework on reflection of the intern practice (20 hours).

Teaching methods
- Preparing personal classes;
- creating apt additional materials;
- leading the concrete classes personally and in pairs;
- analysis of the students’ individual performing and the partner’s performing in teaching personally and in pairs;
- reflection on teaching under the supervision of the programme didactic;
- keeping a pedagogical diary as a tool to support reflection and self-reflection;
- fulfillment of possible (assigned) tasks in the teacher portfolio;
- submission of the practice diary for inspection.
