Course objectives
The aim of the course is to develop the students' ability to communicate the knowledge gained from the Study of Religions programme in a comprehensible way and to inform the general public about ongoing research projects, taking into account the target audience. Target audiences may include young people, potential applicants, the general public, academics, and senior citizens. The course covers both the different forms of presentation and takes into account the different audiences for whom the information is intended. It also touches on the topic of ethics (in relation to research participants, disclosure of information including photographs and video recordings, and sensitive representation of the topic).
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:
  • differentiate between the communication of research in academic debate and the public sphere;
  • communicate research through a press release, interview, podcast, photo or video recording;
  • recognize the ethical considerations involved in publishing sensitive information;
  • transform popularizing output towards a selected target audience.

    • Introduction meeting
    • Video outputs and media training - briefing and discussion with the video studio of FF MUNI
    • Presentation of assignments and evaluation.
    • Study of Religions public events - overview of specific events organized during the academic year.
    • Podcast I - briefing. Software, acoustics, editing
    • Podcast II - listening to recordings and evaluation.
    • Photojournalism and videojournalism I - technique, software, ethics
    • Photojournalism and videojournalism II - assingment presentation and evaluation
    • Wikipedia password - briefing, possible outputs.
