Course objectives
The aim of the course is to give a PhD student an initial orientation in methods of data collection and analysis, and collection and analysis of primary documentation in general (tutor´s collaboration is vital here). Next step for the PhD student is that he or she should familiarize himself or herself with all possibilities that specialized libraries, databases, documentation centres and archives could offer him or her for the purpose of his or her thesis.
Learning outcomes
After finishing the course students are knowledgeable in basic liteture in their field and are able to study further getting a more complex view. They learn how to read critically and handle critically the data they work with.
Syllabus
  • 1. Collecting and analyzing research material in libraries, archives, documentations centres, databases, etc.. 2. Evaluation of results in connection with the progress of the thesis.
