Course objectives

The subject is for those students who are interested in wider context of literary process and in the opportunity to look at the literary work as at the specific part of so-called secondary literature, that means the culture created by man who reflects the world and himself in it. The emphasis is put on the familiarization with classical concepts of chosen works (philosophy, anthropology, psychology, sociology, …), on their connection to the literature and on the discussion about impulses that bring those works for the literary process and its reflex.

Learning outcomes

After finishing the course, the students will be able:
- to connect literary texts and socio-cultural context
- to understand the broader meaning contexts of literature and their functions in the society
- to understand the “logics” of the literary work creation and its function
- to get acquainted with some original thinkers and their works
- to create conditions for discussions
