Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain intricate events of Russian literature of the 20th century; explain the main principles of Modernism sharply differentiated from previous Positivism, Realism and Naturalism, even though in reality specifically transformed many approaches of the previous periods; understand and explain provocative declarations of Avant-garde; interpret its own creation founded on a deliberate and elaborate transfiguration of poetics which was refused in public by the Avant-garde representatives; analyse and interpet approaches in Postmodernism, very close to Avan-garde;explain the tendency to rigorous diffusion of genres of imaginative, factual and profane literature including numerous use of decay linguistic layers; analyse the poetics of some literary works selected in accordance with own research subjects of graduant student.

  • 3. Analysis of poetics of Decadent and Symbolic poetry and dramaturgy

  • 5. Futurist and Constructivist poetics
  • 6. Expressionist dramaturgy
  • 7. Problems of Modernist prose
  • 8. Transformations of novel genre in the 20th century
  • 9. Absurd dramaturgy of Avant-garde and Postmodernism
  • 10. Poetics of Postmodernist prose
  • 11. Problems of culture of the 20th century
