Course objectives
The aim of the course is to study different manifestation of sexism in Spanish language, mainly in writen expression. Students will study in tetx samples different manifestation of this phenomenon and will learn how to avoid it.
Syllabus
  • History of sufragette and femenist movement.
  • Feminism in linguistics.
  • Andocentrism and sexism.
  • Language sexism.
  • Differences in mens speech and womens speech.
  • Some proposals to avoid sexism in language.

Teaching methods
Lecture: detailed exposition on manifestations of linguistic sexism in Spanish and analysis of different recommendations to avoid this form of discimination.
