Course objectives
The aim of this course is to make students acquainted with the basic notions of Spanish morphology. Students should be able to define basic terms of a linguistic discipline in question. When analyzing particular texts and exercises, he or she should be able to apply these terms and deduce from the observed phenomena the proper conclusions.
At the end of the course, the student will be familiar with the main terms from morphology (morpheme, radical, etc.) and will understand basically the principles of word formation. The students will be able to deduce and explain the rules of basic morphological phenomena and identify the deviations from the standard. He or she will be able justify and bring serious arguments to support his or her thesis. Eventually, he or she will be able to propose a solution in accord with the standard.

Teaching methods
Lecture: exposition and definitions of basic terms and their exemplification on different types of specific text, proceeding from diverse registers.
Seminar: application of theoretical knowledge on authentic texts. During their presentations students show their ability to interconnect on their own their theoretical knowledge and practical analysis of a specific text.
Assessment methods
The course is taught as both lectures and seminars. Attendance and participation in the seminar (min. 80%).
Credit: active participation and attendance is required (80%) as well as written test (minimum: 80.%), where students show their ability to analyze and explain phenomena in accordance (or in conflict) with the standard.
Additional evaluation consists of a paper or various papers (total amount: 6 pages, i.e. 10 600 characters).
