Course objectives
The aim of the course is to get acquainted with some poststructuralist approaches to the study of language and social communication, which have been developing since the second half of the 20th century, especially after the so-called pragmatic turn. During the course, students will gain a more accurate idea of ​​the interdisciplinarity of linguistics and the nature of the links between natural language and social reality. The basic topics will be: the theory of verbal, social and mass communication, pragmalinguistics, analysis and critical analysis of discourse, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, textual linguistics, cognitive linguistics and linguistics.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- be familiar with basic modern methodological approaches to language research,
- identify these methodological approaches in a broadly understood scientific discourse,
- assess the applicability of pragmalinguistic and other modern methods and approaches to a specific area or topic of linguistic research,
- apply some of the modern approaches to language research in their own research work.
