Course objectives
The development of appropriate lingual responses in real-life situations (suitable selection of social and functional types of language corresponding to the state of verbal communication). The development of strategies for partaking in conversations; the development of strategies for resolving desputes arrising from language deficiency. The development of the ability to organise and verbally present an event, as well as prepare all the necessary documentation in the Czech and Slovene language.
Syllabus
  • The student understands the essence and the finer details present in various real-life verbal situations. The student understands the essence and the finer details present in various authentic spoken texts, especially in interviews and discussions. The student understands the essence and the finer details present in descriptions of events, literary works, and other texts that are prevelant for the purpose of an event. The student is able to translate texts from Czech to Slovene and vice versa. The student is able to interpret real-life conversations from Slovene to Czech and vice versa. The student is able to express in Slovene his or her opinion and support it with arguments. The student is able to form various types of texts.
Teaching methods
Making arrangements with performing authors and organisers of events, active participation during events that are being organised in collaboration with the lectureship of the Slovene language and during the lectures of hosting lecturers from the field of Slovene studies. The preparation of an interview with a guest from Slovenia or a report on an event. The translation of general and literary texts from Slovene to Czech and vice versa.
Assessment methods
To obtain credits, the student must: -be present on all slovenian events organised in cooperation with the lectureship; -be present on all additional lectures held by the hosting lecturers from the field of Slovene studies; -help with the organising of events, for example: arranging locations for events, escorting guests to the hotel or the location of the performance, ...; -prepare an interview with one of the Slovenian guests or write a report (in Czech or Slovene, depending on the year of study); -prepare the necessary translations (slo-cz and cz-slo) for every event.
