Course objectives
The aim of the course is to prepare art history graduates for teaching practice in secondary vocational schools and higher vocational schools of art and grammar schools. Graduates can find further employment in the lecturing departments of galleries, as animators and art mediators. The course emphasizes the active acquisition of teaching methods and their relevance in contemporary education.Students are introduced to the framework curriculum and the school curriculum of several secondary schools and learn to implement current knowledge of the history of art as a scientific discipline. The course teaches students to prepare conditions for learning for all pupils, including pupils with IDD and specific learning disabilities, and to apply formative assessment to all pupils. Emphasis is placed on innovative teaching methods including digital electronic resources.
Syllabus
  • 1. Art History in Historical and Sociocultural Contexts, Art History Today - Selected Current Currents of New Art History.
  • 2. Art History in  curricular documents, Framework educational programs, School educational programs.
  • 3. Curriculum development as didactic transformation of the curriculum
  • . 4. Traditional didactic materials (textbooks) versus modern didactic technology (databases on the Internet, online documents, electronic textbooks), the issue of availability of information x versus its veracity.
  • 5. Activating teaching methods.
  • 6. Interdisciplinary teaching projects.
  • 7. Forms of organizing the learning process of students in the classroom.
  • 8. Assessment, didactic tests, classification methods, the influence of classification on students' motivation.
  • 9. Cross-cutting themes and their incorporation into Art History lessons.
  • 10. Learning outside the institution: field trips, educational programs for gallery and museum schools, architectural walk.
  • 11. Selected chapter of art history and forms and methods of making it available in secondary general education and vocational schools.
