Course objectives
Didactics of Psychology as one of the key disciplines in the preparation of psychology teachers provides students with an overview of current knowledge of the theory and practice of teaching the subject of psychology in secondary schools. The aim is to create a base of basic theoretical knowledge and practical experience necessary for the preparation and implementation of teaching psychology in various types of secondary schools.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course Didactics of psychology II
- student will be able to list all documents and materials from which the teacher builds in preparation for the lesson
- student control procedures that can be used for the preparation of teacher responsible for teaching
- student will be able to do and justify the preparation of the lesson on a selected topic in psychology
- student will be able to apply theoretical knowledge from psychological and pedagogical disciplines for teaching psychology in secondary schools - having regard to the profile of the teaching of psychology by the types of secondary schools and their focus of study
Syllabus
  • 1. Position of the subject of psychology in the content of secondary school education. Profiling of psychology teaching according to types of secondary schools – vocational secondary schools, vocational secondary schools, gymnasiums.
  • 2. Curricular (pedagogical) documents in the subject of psychology. Educational standards. Framework educational programs (RVP for high school education, RVP for secondary vocational education), school educational programs (ŠVP).
    Lesson Plans. Curriculum. Time-themed plans. Textbook. Methodological manuals.
  • 3. Cross-cutting topics and intersubject relationships and creation of a knowledge system.
  • 4. Teaching planning, teacher preparation for teaching (perspective – long-term, current – immediate, written preparation for a psychology lesson – its components).
  • 5. Observation and analysis of the teaching process - observation in a psychology lesson (criteria for observing a lesson, record of the course of a lesson, analysis of a lesson).
  • 6. Selection, content and organization of the curriculum in the subject of psychology. Didactic transformation of the subject matter and didactic analysis of the subject matter of psychology. Defining and explaining psychological terms.
  • 7. Topics:
    a) The subject of psychology and its basic methods. History of psychology.
    b) System of psychological scientific disciplines and their tasks in practice.
    c) Sensory processes and perception.
    d) Imagination (ideas and fantasies).
    e) Memory.
    f) Learning.
    g) Attention.
    h) Thinking and speech.
    ch) Emotions and feelings.
    i) Free trial.
    j) Personality, personality structure.
    etc.
  • Note: Circuits starting with No. 7 are subjects for work in seminars, they serve as practical preparation for own outputs in psychology classes as part of pedagogical practice in secondary schools. The attendee prepares for the psychology lesson at the secondary school according to the recommended curriculum (selection of subject matter of his/her own choice) and realizes an output with this topic at the seminar, after which his/her lesson will be analyzed by other attendees and self-reflection of the attending attendee will take place.
