Course objectives
The Compendium for Teachers course deals with the most fundamental educational concepts, paying attention to latest trends and current issues in the school system. The aim of the course is to facilitate understanding and overview of current processes influencing the situation in education and in schools and also to motivate students to undertake teacher training. Forms of active and open learning will be emphasized during the course.
Learning outcomes
a) Students will know what types of situations in future practice await them outside their own teaching. They will understand what expectations will be placed on them as classroom teachers, which situations in the school fall within their remit and who to consult in dealing with them (using SPP support), and which situations to delegate and how.
(b) Students will know the basics of the rights and responsibilities of teachers.
(c) Students will know the basic information regarding working with pupils with SEN, they will understand the principles of individualization and differentiation of teaching and their impact on the preparation of teaching; due to the link with the Special Education course, the primary focus will be on pupils with a different mother tongue and gifted students.
(d) Students will understand the fundamentals of educational research and intervention research in which they may be actively involved in the future.
e) Students will be able to provide basic first aid as the course includes a theoretical lecture followed by a four-hour workshop based on the implementation of theory into a practice.
