Course objectives
Learning outcomes of this course are to introduce Sociology of Art as part of Sociology in its historical development and to acquaint students with the basic topics of Sociology of Art, key authors who dealt with them and to present major outcomes of the sociological studies of art and culture.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to: - explain the basic notions and theoretical concepts of the sociology of arts;
- identify the elementary methodological positions of the important representatives of the sociology of arts;
- locate the main theoretical concepts in the development of the social sciences and art studies;
- apply the theoretical concepts in the analysis of the particular cases in the history of arts and contemporary art culture.
