- Course objectives
- The student knows basic goals and methods of linguistics.
- Learning outcomes
- The student understands the concept of the linguistic sign and he knows how to use it. He distinguishes synchronic and diachronic linguistic methods; uses the basic terms and method of linguistic disciplines from phonetic and phonology to morphology, lexicology and syntax.
- Syllabus
- information, communication, thinking, language and speech, goals of linguistics; linguistic fields, linguistic plans - phonology, grammatical categories, lexicology, semantics, syntax; notation of the speech, language classification (genetic, areal), language typology, historical linguistics, etymology, history of linguistics, different fields of linguistics - onomastics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics.
