Course objectives
The course focuses on classifiers and specifiers of size and shape. Those are expressions that belong to a specific semantic class and are part of the productive sign language lexicon. The classifiers are used as proforms for persons, animals and other objects or their parts (for example legs, paws, eyes). The specifiers have descriptive nature.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students understand the use of all groups of classifiers and specifiers in CSL. They use actively in their own signing the most usual expressions from these two groups.
Syllabus
  • Whole entity classifiers, holding classifiers, classifiers for the body parts, classifiers for touching, size and shape specifiers.
