Course objectives
Show and explain students the basics of writing down the Czech sign language through the SignWriting phonetic notation system, including manual and non-manual parts of sings.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course, the student will be able to write a sign language discourse using SignWriting concerning the manual and nonmanual features. The student will also be able to reproduce (read) any written text in sign language written by SignWriting.
Syllabus
  • 1) History and development of notation systems.
  • 2) Options of using SignWriting.
  • 3) Components of the sing and their representation.
  • 4) Hanshapes and their orientation.
  • 5) Contact symbols, straignt movement.
  • 6) Curved and circular movement.
  • 7) Rotation and dynamics.
  • 8) Non-annual components, mouthing.
  • 9) Related software.
