Course objectives
The seminar should serve as an introduction into the problematic of the translation of the Art text. Participants to the course can get acquainted with the fundamental characteristic of the Art style. The seminar specializes on selected problems of the Art literature translation e.g. the equivalence and adequacy in translations, appropriateness of a style, non-equivalent words. A special attention is given to the interlingual homonymy of the related languages. For the purpose of translations the texts of contemporary authors who are writing in Ukrainian language are being chosen here, especially if they have not been translated into the Czech language yet.

  • 7. Word alternatives in the process of translation.
  • 8. Non-equivalent vocabulary and its problematic.
  • 9. Neologisms resulting form the translation.
  • 10. New questions in compliance with Ukrainian Art translation.

  • 13. Ukrainian and Czech equivalents as for the rhymed forms.

Teaching methods
Written literary translation of original, comparison of original and translation from the view of semantic relation. Co-report to the work "Teorija perekladu" by V. V. Koptilov.
Assessment methods
To pass the subject it is necessary to translate 1 Ukrainian story.
