Course objectives
Students will understand the problems of life and works of Dmitri Shostakovich, especially his work for film and, more generally, music theatre. They will be able to explain different problems of art in the Soviet Union, the role of film in it, and the important events in the life and work od Dmitri Shostakovich. The will also be acquainted with the political aspects of cultural life in the Soviet Union.
