Course objectives (in Czech)
Herbartismus bývá pokládán za reakční alternativu k tzv. německému idealismu, podporovanou rakouským mocnářstvím. Toto běžné tvrzení neprávem vyřazuje Herbartovu filosofii z vážného vědeckého studia. Kurs se pokusí docenit opomíjené stránky Herbartovy filosofie, které ve středoevropských poměrech připravovaly a předjímaly snahy strukturalistické. Vysvětlí, jak v tehdejší kulturní a jazykové oblasti německé herbartismus fungoval podobně jako v západoevropských poměrech comtovský pozitivismus: pozitivně ovlivnil rozvoj empirických věd.
