Course objectives
Contemporary visual art brings a number of new tendencies and ways of artistic expression. Works are created that work with new technologies, augmented reality and film image. Concurrently we are witnessing the return of traditional materials such as textiles, mosaics or ceramics. Works of a multi-genre nature are common and artists who make them take into account the cultural, historical and social context of the space they enter. Taking the example of large-scale spatial projects of the Brno House of Arts, such as Pavel Korbička's Deflection Spaces, Big Light by Federico Díaz, The World According to Ironym Kool by Václav Jirásek, Sculptor Miloš Zet by Martin Zet, Brno Art Open, etc. an insight into the way of thinking and working of the artists presented there will be provided. Furthermore, the mentioned projects will be compared with contemporary European work, presented at exhibitions such as Documenta 2017 and 2012, Skulptur Projekte, Münster 2017, or at the Künstlerhaus Halle für Kunst und Medien in Graz.
