Course objectives
The aim of the course is to study the Brno architecture and urbanism, from the founding of the towm in the 13th century till the beginning of the 21st century. The accent is put on a seminary part. Excursions to selected places of Brno are also a part of the course.
Syllabus
  • 1) Introduction
  • 2) Architecture and fine arts in Brno, the main research themes
  • 3) A historical survey of architecture and urbanism
  • 4) The Brno redevelopment, a lost city
  • 5) Residential houses
  • 6) Sacred and civic buildings in the 19th-21st cent.
  • 7) The image of Brno in belles lettres
  • Excursions will be held continually, at the whole time of the course.

Assessment methods
The conditons for the finishing of the course: 1) A seminary work in an extension min. 3.800 types; the theme will be agreed with the lecturer till Oktober, the 31st. The work will be submited at least till December, the 1st, and eventually also presented; it is necessary to write the used sources (literature); 2) the knowledge of the contents of lectures (it will be prooved through a colloqium).
